چکیده

We investigate the stability and instability of pathologies of renormalization group transformations for lattice spin systems under decimation. In particular we show that, even if the original renormalization group transformation gives rise to a non Gibbsian measure, Gibbsiannes may be restored by applying an extra decimation trasformation. This fact is illustrated in details for the block spin transformation applied to the Ising model. We also discuss the case of another non-Gibbsian measure with nicely decaying correlations functions which remains non-Gibbsian after arbitrary decimation.

Exact renormalization-group analysis of first-order phase transitions in clock models.

We analyze the exact behavior of the renormalization group flow in one-dimensional clock-models which undergo first order phase transitions by the presence of complex interactions. The flow, defined by decimation, is shown to be single-valued and continuous throughout its domain of definition, which contains the transition points. This fact is in disagreement with a recently proposed scenario f...

String tension and removal of lattice coarsening effects in Monte Carlo Renormalization Group

We study the computation of the static quark potential under decimations in the Monte Carlo Renormalization Group (MCRG). Employing a multi-representation plaquette action, we find that fine-tuning the decimation prescription so that the MCRG equilibrium self-consistency condition is satisfied produces dramatic improvement at large distances. In particular, lattice coarsening (change of effecti...

Renormalization-group Investigation of the S = 1 Random Antiferromagnetic Heisenberg Chain

We introduce variants of the Ma-Dasgupta renormalization-group (RG) approach for random quantum spin chains, in which the energy-scale is reduced by decimation built on either perturbative or non-perturbative principles. In one non-perturbative version of the method, we require the exact invariance of the lowest gaps, while in a second class of perturbative Ma-Dasgupta techniques, different dec...

Renormalization Group transformations of the decimation type in more than one dimension

Renormalization Group transformations of the decimation type in more than one dimension. Abstract We develop a formalism for performing real space renormalization group transformations of the " decimation type " using low temperature perturbation theory. This type of transformations beyond d = 1 is highly nontrivial even for free theories. We construct such a solution in arbitrary dimensions an...

Pathological Behavior of Renormalization-Group Maps at High Fields and Above the Transition Temperature

We show that decimation transformations applied to high-q Potts models result in non-Gibbsian measures even for temperatures higher than the transition temperature. We also show that majority transformations applied to the Ising model in a very strong field at low temperatures produce non-Gibbsian measures. This shows that pathological behavior of renormalization-group transformations is even m...
